History and System

Mathematical competitions in Macedonia have been held since 1956, when it was a part of former Yugoslavia. The competition system has traditionally consisted of several stages - school, municipal, regional and republic, on which the students are divided into grades 1 to 4 of high school. After gaining independence in 1991 the existing system was retained with the addition of the National MO in 1994 where all contestants do the same problems and which also serves as the selection exam for the IMO.

Macedonia at International Competitions

Macedonia has participated at the IMO since 1993. In the recent history the best success of the team at the IMO was the 31-st place in 1995.
